Description

This unit provides an introduction to design and build web sites. The unit includes: an introduction to web authoring languages to build and maintain web sites; web file organisation and management; standards for web tools and accessibility including W3C standards; incorporating graphics and digital media into web pages; and design and development strategies for interactive Web-based information systems.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Plan, design and build web pages using HTML and CSS.
  2. Rationalise and communicate web site development.
  3. Review and implement HTML, CSS, and DOM standards as promulgated by W3C.
  4. Create interactive web sites that incorporate graphics and digital media using Web authoring tools.
  5. Discuss and demonstrate some of the web design tradeoffs/issues associated with usability and accessibility.
  6. Describe and implement web designs that cater for cross-cultural and international users.
