This unit will introduce you to the teaching of Health & Physical Education in the Primary School. This unit will enable students to work within this learning area without specialist support.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Explain the nature and scope of health & physical education in the primary school.
  2. Justify the inclusion of a comprehensive HPE program in the primary school.
  3. Critically analyse health promotion models for the primary school.
  4. Apply integrated planning principles for health & physical education in the primary school.

  1. Curriculum resources for primary health & physical education.
  2. Health promotion in an integrated primary curriculum.
  3. Physical education in an integrated primary curriculum.
  4. Planning for primary health & physical education experiences.
  5. Western Australian Curriculum and other approaches.
