Description

This unit develops content knowledge and examines developmentally appropriate integrated pedagogical approaches to teaching History and Civics and Citizenship within the Humanities and Social Sciences learning area in the Australian Curriculum, including the cross-curricula priorities. The unit has a focus on translating content knowledge and the selections of appropriate resources into informed pedagogical practice that promotes quality teaching learning in primary schools.

Prerequisite Rule

Must pass 1 unit from HSS2240 or SSE2240 and 1 unit from HSS2260

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate appropriate levels of content knowledge.
  2. Plan, sequence and structure developmentally appropriate pedagogical approaches for teaching Australian Curriculum History and Civics and Citizenship curricula.
  3. Evaluate developmentally appropriate teaching and learning resources relevant to the Australian Curriculum History and Civics and Citizenship.

  2. Integrated teaching and learning planning for Australian Curriculum History and Civics and Citizenship in Primary Schools.
  3. Developmentally appropriate content knowledge to enable effective teaching of the Australian Curriculum History and Civics and Citizenship.
