Description

This unit develops content knowledge and examines developmentally appropriate integrated pedagogical approaches to teaching Geography and Civics and Citizenship within the Humanities and Social Sciences learning area in the Australian Curriculum, including the cross-curricula priorities. The unit has a focus on translating content knowledge and the selection of appropriate resources into informed pedagogical practice that promotes quality teaching and learning in Primary Schools.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate appropriate levels of content knowledge.
  2. Plan, sequence and structure developmentally appropriate pedagogical approaches for teaching Australian Curriculum Geography and Civics and Citizenship curricula.
  3. Evaluate developmentally appropriate teaching and learning resources for Australian Curriculum Geography and Civics and Citizenship.
