Description

This unit is the first stage of a research project which will develop critical and analytical skills by undertaking and completing research in an area of relevance. The project is carried out on an individual basis. Research projects are supervised by staff who possess research interests and experience in the relevant area.

Prerequisite Rule

Students must pass 1 units from (RES5115, MMP6101)

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Construct appropriate project management timelines for the research.
  2. Critically review current literature relating to the study topic.
  3. Develop and submit a research proposal for the investigation of an issue related to their study area.
  4. Prepare a detailed budget for the project.
  5. Synthesise the ethical issues relating to the research and obtain necessary ethical clearance for the project to commence.

  1. Ethical approvals and requirements for the research.
  2. Knowledge and practice in applied research, specifically in relation to:
  3. Literature Review.
  4. Research Design.
  5. Sampling equipment.
  6. Sampling methods.

Additional Learning Experience Information

As a research unit the student is expected to work with a nominated supervisor. The student and supervisor will agree on progress review dates.
