We are in a global business village where different national markets merge into one global marketplace. Despite the rapid globalisation of markets, each market still differs from the rest in certain ways. Whether working in a multinational, domestic, international or private business it is inevitable that you will work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds. This unit introduces the student to the different cultural dimensions of people and business and provides a framework that illustrates how different dimensions differentiate one culture from another. When these dimensions are applied to issues that affect the workplace such as communication, negotiation, language, business ettiquette, social customs and so forth, we develop an understanding of why people behave as they do and how this affects business.
On completion of this unit students should be able to:
Students will attend on campus classes as well as engage in learning activities through ECU Blackboard.

On-campus students attend a weekly seminar. Off-campus students access the study program via Blackboard. Regular online access is required.
