The unit is a capstone unit for both the major in Management and major in Sustainable Business Management. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the fundamental concepts underlying the study of strategy, the process of strategic management, and the role of strategy in matching an organisation's competencies with its environment. The student will apply concepts in the analysis and development of strategies for business organisations.

On-campus attend weekly seminars. The teaching and learning approach in this unit is enhanced through in-class discussions of practical industry case studies, where the skills of working effectively with others (specifically team work, task collaboration and working productively with people from diverse cultures), communicating effectively, critical appraisal and the ability to generate ideas are emphasised. Off-campus students access their program online via Blackboard and will include the unit plan, powerpoint slides and any reading materials. Regular online access is required. Students are required to complete individual and group assessment items which are assessed for quality academic and professional standards, including written communication (structure, language and conventions), critical analysis (depth of thought, development of argument, logical analysis and insight), depth and breadth of coverage, the ability to research effectively using both academic and contemporary sources and industry relevance.
