This capstone unit provides students with experience in synthesizing and applying the skills and knowledge acquired in previous units within the Master of Project Management. Under the general supervision of the lecturer, or academic mentor, each student will undertake a provided case study. The unit will enable students to develop a broad range of work-related skills that will enhance their graduate capabilities. The unit relies on the learning in PM accumulated across all the previous units, and must therefore be taken in the last semester of the MPM course.

Students will engage in learning experiences through ECU Blackboard as well as additional ECU learning technologies.
Students are required to work on their project in a group. Students who are geographically remote or have other reasons why they cannot work in a team, need to negotiate this with the unit coordinator in the first week of the semester. Weekly on-campus workshops and online recordings will be provided to support students in completing the project proposal document. This will help to establish the important ethical and professional aspects of practice, project management and quality principles. Following the completion of the project initiation document, the teams will conduct their project via independent study, with each team assigned a workspace on Blackboard to upload weekly reports, record progress status, and other project reporting details. Online students can join on-campus groups in cases where the team is prepared to manage this complexity. The case study will make extensive use of online material posted on Blackboard both as baseline details and to inform students of updates to the project. Regular online access is therefore required for all students.
