Description

This unit builds on leadership concepts introduced in the Managing People and Organisations unit and aims to establish and expand on the fundamentals of strategic leadership and stakeholder management in a business context. Through a combination of theoretical approaches, practical simulation exercises and business case studies, students will expand their strategic thinking, visioning and leadership capability. The overarching intention is to deepen students capability as a leader and be able to effectively manage a variety of stakeholders .

Prerequisite Rule

Students must pass FBL5010

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Apply knowledge of leadership practice in the global environment.
  2. Provide evidence of the capability to integrate leadership theory and practice.
  3. Develop relevant research principles and methods applicable for researching an organisational environment.
  4. Demonstrate knowledge, skills and initiative in proposing and justifying a strategic plan for a new organisational situation.
  5. Produce a clear vision for innovative organisational change for all stakeholders.
  6. Exhibit personal autonomy and accountability in the execution of a substantial research or industry project to produce a strategic plan.

Additional Learning Experience Information

Case studies, practical sessions, study aids and guest speakers will enhance student learning and allow students to apply theory to authentic situations. For on-campus students, the unit is delivered using technology enhanced learning which integrates digital experiences in preparation for in-class discussions and activities. Online students access the unit via Blackboard, engaging in a variety of learning experiences that foster collaboration and exchange. All students have access to session recordings, resources and readings.
