Description

This unit builds on leadership concepts introduced in the Managing People and Organisations unit and aims to establish and expand on the fundamentals of strategic leadership and stakeholder management in a business context. Through a combination of theoretical approaches, practical simulation exercises and business case studies, students will expand their strategic thinking, visioning and leadership capability. The overarching intention is to deepen student’s capability as a leader and be able to effectively manage a variety of stakeholders .

Students must pass FBL5010

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Critically evaluate a variety of advanced leadership and stakeholder management concepts, theories and frameworks and their application to effective practice.
  2. Appraise interactions between leaders and stakeholders that produce beneficial outcomes for both groups.
  3. Create a comprehensive leadership vision that takes into account the demands and expectations of different stakeholders.

Additional Learning Experience Information

Case studies, practical sessions, study aids and guest speakers will enhance student learning and allow students to apply theory to authentic situations. For on-campus students, the unit is delivered using technology enhanced learning which integrates digital experiences in preparation for in-class discussions and activities. Online students access the unit via LMS, engaging in a variety of learning experiences that foster collaboration and exchange. All students have access to session recordings, resources and readings.

Academic Integrity

Plagiarism

Copying the words, ideas or creative works of other people or generative artificial intelligence tools, without referencing in accordance with stated University requirements. Students need to seek approval from the Unit Coordinator within the first week of study if they intend to use some of their previous work in an assessment task (self-plagiarism).

Unauthorised collaboration (collusion)

Working with other students and submitting the same or substantially similar work or portions of work when an individual submission was required. This includes students knowingly providing others with copies of their own work to use in the same or similar assessment task(s).

Contract cheating

Organising a friend, a family member, another student or an external person or organisation (e.g. through an online website) to complete or substantially edit or refine part or all of an assessment task(s) on their behalf.

Cheating in an exam

Using or having access to unauthorised materials in an exam or test.

Serious outcomes may be imposed if a student is found to have committed one of these breaches, up to and including expulsion from the University for repeated or serious acts.

Assessment Extension
