Description
This unit requires the development of an independent quality improvement project. Students develop a project proposal detailing a quality improvement initiative to address an area of interest, or deficit, or for quality improvement in the clinical setting. At the end of the semester students submit documentation required for approval to conduct the quality improvement project in a following semester (MHP6101).

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this unit students should be able to:
- Construct a comprehensive critical analysis of the relevant literature related to the chosen topic.
- Design a sustainable project related to their field of study which can be completed within a semester timeframe.
- Formulate documentation for review of the proposal by relevant committees and reviewers.
- Plan the proposal development and timeline in order to meet project deadlines.
- Produce a proposal for a project within arealistic timeline that is ethically sound and based upon an appropriate conceptual or theoretical framework.

- Conducting a literature review and applying conceptual or theoretical frameworks if required.
- Meeting requirements for scientific and ethical approval todevelop a project.
- Planning a project proposal including realistic timelines.
- Preparing a written project proposal.
- Selecting a project topic and formulating specific objectives.
Additional Learning Experience Information
Guided by a nominated supervisor, students will take responsibility for their own learning through independent study in an area of disciplinary interest to develop a manageable project. Students will have regular negotiated contact with their supervisor.
