This unit is designed to educate students about the anatomy and physiological function of the systems in the human body. Students will be introduced to the key anatomical features and physiological functions of the integument, muscular, cardiovascular, respiratory and digestive systems as well as explore their roles in maintaining homeostasis.
Equivalent to SCH1143 or EBH1102
On completion of this unit students should be able to:

Students will engage in learning experiences through ECU Blackboard as well as additional ECU learning technologies.
This unit provides a range of interactive online activities that complement the learning outcomes for each topic and support active learning for students. Laboratory activities provide an opportunity for students to explore scientific concepts and theory in practical ways. Students undertake basic research and submit a written report on a clinical case scenario that requires anatomical and physiological knowledge. Students will be assessed on their ability to analyse relationships in order to solve problems, communicate ideas through written discussion, use scientific terminology correctly and demonstrate academic integrity.

Students please note: The marks and grades received by students on assessments may be subject to further moderation. All marks and grades are to be considered provisional until endorsed by the relevant Board of Examiners.
Due to the professional competency skill development associated with this Unit, student attendance/participation within listed in-class activities and/or online activities including discussion boards is compulsory. Students failing to meet participation standards as outlined in the unit plan may be awarded an I Grade (Fail - incomplete). Students who are unable to meet this requirement for medical or other reasons must seek the approval of the unit coordinator.
