This unit focuses on aeromedical patient retrieval and the principles of aviation medicine, retrieval medicine and aviation operations combined in the applied setting. Contemporary clinical practice and evidence-based medicine are considered in the context of aeromedical retrieval and situations in which undifferentiated diagnoses, resource limitations, and multiple conflicting priorities are often present. A particular emphasis is on evaluation and operation of biomedical retrieval equipment in flight. Patient management is evaluated through clinical case studies.
On completion of this unit students should be able to:
