Description

This unit focuses on the application of technical and interpretative skills in performance. Students manage their own practice and performance repertoire and become proficient in a variety of genres and styles. Students critically appraise their own performance and the performance of others, and take a proactive role over their choice of repertoire and individual expression, demonstrating their initiative in mastering technical and interpretative challenges in performance.

Prerequisite Rule

Students must pass 1 units from MUS2505

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Apply technical and interpretative skills to solo performance.
  2. Use initiative to master technical and interpretative challenges in performance.
  3. Perform repertoire from a variety of genres and styles.
  4. Critically appraise individual performance and the performance of others.

Unit Content

  1. Intermediate technical exercises and sight reading.
  2. Rehearsal and performance of new repertoire.
  3. Instrumental/vocal techniques and stylistic requirements for performance.
  4. Building performance repertoire.
  5. Performing in front of an audience.
  6. Performance criticism.

Learning Experience

Students will attend on campus classes as well as engage in learning activities through ECUs LMS
