Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Conduct basic conversations in German from everyday contexts.
  2. Conjugate common regular and irregular verbs in the present tense.
  3. Recognise and correctly use German parts of speech.
  4. Structure sentences using correct German word order.
  5. Understand and correctly use formal and informal you in German.
  6. Understand the concept of gender in the German language.

  2. Conjugating common regular and irregular verbs in the present tense.
  3. Formal and informal you (Du / Sie).
  4. Gender in the German language.
  5. German parts of speech.
  6. German sentence structure and word order.
