This unit will concentrate on designing a recital program that reflects concepts and techniques studied thus far. The unit will also focus on the further development of musical strategies for the performance of complex harmonic, rhythmic and melodic jazz repertoire. Repertoire from the Modern Jazz, Fusion, Avant-Garde and Free Improvisation styles will be studied and the students will continue to plan and manage a practice routine and performance repertoire. This unit will also focus on further development of individual performance skills with an emphasis on presentation and critical evaluation.
Students must pass 3 units from MUS3305, MUS3308, MUS3321
On completion of this unit students should be able to:

Students please note: The marks and grades received by students on assessments may be subject to further moderation. All marks and grades are to be considered provisional until endorsed by the relevant Board of Examiners.
Due to the professional competency skill development associated with this Unit, student attendance/participation within listed in-class activities and/or online activities including discussion boards is compulsory. Students failing to meet participation standards as outlined in the unit plan may be awarded an I Grade (Fail - incomplete). Students who are unable to meet this requirement for medical or other reasons must seek the approval of the unit coordinator.

This unit aims to develop advanced instrumental, improvisational, interpretive and technical skills, and students will continue to plan and manage a practice routine and performance repertoire. The unit will also concentrate on designing a recital program that reflects concepts and techniques studied thus far. The unit will continue to focus on further development of individual performance skills with an emphasis on presentation. To meet the participation criteria, students must pass the Technical Proficiency Level 3 exam.
