Students interpret standard repertoire and create new interpretations as appropriate, using more advanced skills in both individual and group performance as they perform chosen works in public concerts. Leadership skills and the ability to collaborate with other players on the interpretation and communication of musical ideas in performance and rehearsal are developed as the selected ensembles perform repertoire convincingly and professionally in public concerts.

All ensembles perform at least once in public during the semester, either in the University or in the wider community. Students will be required to work in an ensemble to produce and perform musical works. They will be required to engage in constant communication with each other about technical and stylistic issues. Students will be provided with opportunities to practise their performance and/or improvisation skills, with feedback from their peers and their ensemble director.
