In this unit students will work with music and its manifestation on the internet. Students will use various network protocols including Bluetooth, TCP'IP, UDP, OSC and FTP, and will work with compression codec's for media, build a streaming server, and learn some basic html. Students will also be involved in the construction and maintenance of the WAAPA music label. Students will form an electronic ensemble performing over a LAN and WAN network streaming audio and visual. Students will work towards a Sound Spectrum streaming performance over the Internet in collaboration with various tertiary institutions and/or artists (TBA). A recording of this performance is to be submitted for publication on the WAAPA Music Label.
