Description

This unit continues to develop students' performance skills. Acting, text and movement skills acquired in class are consolidated through a range of vocal productions including oratorio, opera and workshop productions. Also addressed are rehearsal and performance etiquette, and audition and recital techniques.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Analyse and effectively deliver texts of moderate difficulty.
  2. Demonstrate an awareness of rehearsal and performance etiquette.
  3. Demonstrate audition and recital techniques.
  4. Demonstrate intermediate acting skills.
  5. Demonstrate movement and physical characterisation skills.
  6. Perform a physical warm-up to an appropriate level.
  7. Rehearse and perform in vocal productions.

Unit Content

  1. Acting method for singers.
  2. Audition and recital techniques.
  3. Intermediate text analysis, interpretation and delivery techniques.
  4. Movement and physicality.
  5. Physical warm-ups of moderate difficulty.
  6. Rehearsal and performance etiquette.
  7. Rehearsals and performance of vocal productions.

Additional Learning Experience Information

Weekly classes and rehearsals as per the production schedule.
