Description

On completion of this unit, students will be expected to present creative, professional level contemporary music performances.The continual study of complex rhythmic, harmonic and melodic elements will reinforce the culmination offour years of study in this area.The unit will also be centred on the continued development of specific creative performance skills with an emphasis on professional presentation and critical evaluation.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Critically evaluate professional-level interpretational and improvisational techniques.
  2. Demonstrate an understanding of professional-level creative concepts and techniques.
  3. Demonstrate the acquisition of specific professional-level melodic, harmonic and rhythmic techniques.
  4. Utilise vocal skills to reinforce creative practice.

Unit Content

  1. Complex harmonic, melodic and rhythmic concepts.
  2. Implementation and recognition of material in recorded examples.
  3. Professional-level improvisation and interpretation techniques.
  4. Vocalisation techniques.
