Description

In this unit students create a portfolio of original compositions and arrangements. In addition to group activities, each student will be encouraged to pursue the path most interesting, challenging and beneficial to them; as such the unit will accommodate composers and performers alike. Students will have the opportunity to have their works performed in a concert.

Prerequisite Rule

Students must pass 1 units from MUS4506

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Arrange music for a variety of ensembles.
  2. Demonstrate new compositional skills and techniques.
  3. Successfully mount a performance of their own music.
  4. Work to a brief.
  5. Write for a specified performer or ensemble.

Unit Content

  1. Individually negotiated content.
  2. Orchestration.
  3. Preparing parts for performanceand negotiating performance.
  4. Various styles/genres as demanded by the individual student.

Additional Learning Experience Information

Workshops, one on one tuition, lectures, rehearsals and performances.
