Description

Eneksis is an outstanding student chamber choir. Its members gain experience in the art of choral singing through participation in rehearsals and performances. In this unit, students develop advanced skills in a broad range of performance and musicianship activities, choral singing, stylistic understanding, rehearsal techniques, and concert presentation in the ensemble context. Students also take on leadership roles in the ensemble.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Rehearse and perform effectively in choral ensembles.
  2. Demonstrate an advanced level of progress in ensemble skills.
  3. Apply advanced musical skills in a range of music of different styles.
  4. Articulate concepts relating to successful ensemble performances.
  5. Implement practical, core musicianship skills in an ensemble performance setting.
  6. Take on leadership roles in the ensemble.

Unit Content

  1. Rehearsals.
  2. A wide range of high-level choral repertoire.
  3. Assigned public performance during the semester.
  4. Cross-discipline experience where applicable.
  5. Music enrichment activities.
  6. Music literacy skills.
  7. Ensemble skills, phrasing, dynamics, articulation, and interpretation of the designated repertoire.
  8. Public performances.

Learning Experience

Students will attend on campus classes as well as engage in learning activities through ECU Blackboard.

GS2 GRADING SCHEMA 2 Used for performance and/or practical based units

Students please note: The marks and grades received by students on assessments may be subject to further moderation. All marks and grades are to be considered provisional until endorsed by the relevant Board of Examiners.

Due to the professional competency skill development associated with this Unit, student attendance/participation within listed in-class activities and/or online activities including discussion boards is compulsory. Students failing to meet participation standards as outlined in the unit plan may be awarded an I Grade (Fail - incomplete). Students who are unable to meet this requirement for medical or other reasons must seek the approval of the unit coordinator.
