Nursing Practice 3 is the third work integrated learning unit in a series of six. Building on previous studies, students will further develop the knowledge, attitudes and skills required for safe practice as a beginning level registered nurse. Students will develop their knowledge, professionalism and skills to provide basic nursing care to patients in various health care settings. Student will further develop critical thinking skills in relation to medication administration, interprofessional practice, respiratory management and pre/post operative care. This is a designated unit, which means only one attempt is allowed.
Students must have passed Nursing Practice 2 (NPU1202) and Human Processes 2 (HPU1202)
Only students studying Bachelor of Science (Nursing) or Bachelor of Science (Nursing)/Bachelor of Science (Midwifery) can enrol in this unit
Students must study HPU2303 concurrently with NPU2303

Students will complete a full-time, 160 hour clinical placement in medical, surgical, mental health or community setting aimed at consolidating core technical and non-technical nursing skills and knowledge.

Due to the professional competency skill development associated with this Unit, student attendance/participation within listed in-class activities and/or online activities including discussion boards is compulsory. Students failing to meet participation standards as outlined in the unit information may be awarded an I Grade (Fail - incomplete). Students who are unable to meet this requirement for medical or other reasons must seek the approval of the unit coordinator.
