This unit discusses national and international roles that nurses play in the delivery of healthcare. These include: the development of health care policy; education; community capacity building; leadership and patient advocacy. The Australian healthcare system is compared to other international health care systems, to provide students with a global view. The historical development and the importance of the nursing professions regulatory authorities is discussed within the context of the various codes, standards and guidelines for nurses.
Only students studying courses C33, Y61 or Y76 can enrol in this unit.
