Description

Students in this unit are expected to complete their research proposal, ethics clearance and formal proposal review.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Construct an application for ethical review by the University Ethics Committee and committees relevant to the study setting.
  2. Formulate a research proposal that is ethically sound and based upon an appropriate conceptual or theoretical framework.
  3. Present the proposal at a postgraduate seminar or professional forum.
  4. Submit the research proposal for academic review and incorporate relevant feedback.

Unit Content

  1. Gaining scientific and ethical approval.
  2. Powerpoint presentation skills.
  3. Writing and refining the proposal.

Additional Learning Experience Information

With guidance from a nominated supervisor, students will be responsible for activities related to implementation of their project. Students are required to deliver an oral presentation of their proposed project and will take responsibility for their own learning through independent study, discussion with other students and staff, and regular meetings with their supervisor.
