In this unit students participate in six weeks of full-time, supervised work placement in a community nutrition organisation. The supervisory and assessment requirements are defined by the Australian Dietetics Council.
Students must have passed NUT6103, NUT6104, NUT6105 and NUT6106.

Students will undertake, and be assessed on, authentic activities through engagement with industry and community partners.
Work done in an actual workplace in which the student applies discipline-specific knowledge and skills, supervised by an industry professional separate from an ECU campus or location.
This unit includes a six week, full-time community and public health nutrition placement within a non-government or government agency in the community. The placement provides students with the opportunity to apply the theory and knowledge of evidence-based practice in real world situations. The placement aims to develop skills in community and public health nutrition, including intervention planning, implementation and evaluation. A Preceptor and other staff on-site support and guide student progress and liaise regularly with the ECU representative/CPHN domain leader.

Students please note: The marks and grades received by students on assessments may be subject to further moderation. All marks and grades are to be considered provisional until endorsed by the relevant School Progression Panel.
Due to the professional competency skill development associated with this Unit, student attendance/participation within listed in-class activities and/or online activities including discussion boards is compulsory. Students failing to meet participation standards as outlined in the unit plan may be awarded an I Grade (Fail - incomplete). Students who are unable to meet this requirement for medical or other reasons must seek the approval of the unit coordinator.
