Description

This unit aims to identify, analyse and assess scientific concepts, methods and research concerning environment and human health interactions. The major physical, chemical and biological health hazards of the environment will be examined.

Non Standard Timetable Requirements

This unit is delivered online and as a consequence students wishing to enrol will need to have internet access.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Characterise potential sources of exposure and health impacts associated with environmental hazards.
  2. Critically evaluate the principles of assessing, monitoring and controlling environmental hazards in the community.
  3. Identify, analyse and summarise major physical, chemical and biological environmental health hazards that may impact on human health.
  4. Plan health promotion programs in relation to environmental health issues.
  5. Synthesis the interdisciplinary and interactive nature of environmental health problems.

  3. Environmental health management.
  4. Environmental health promotion.
  5. Food safety and water quality.
  6. Human biology and environmental disease.
  7. Pollution and health.
