Description

This unit prepares students to undertake a capstone experience in the Performance Making major. It requires students to work alone or in small groups to create an original work from research and conception to preparation and pitch.

Co-Requisite Rule

Students must be enrolled in course Y97 Performance Making major.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Pitch ideas for a new performance work in a style and format appropriate to industry stakeholders such as funders, programmers and / or collaborators.
  2. Design, plan and conduct the early stages of an effective creative process to generate original performance material using feedback from peers and mentors to develop, deepen or elaborate on performance ideas.
  3. Articulate complex concepts and ideas clearly, succinctly and convincingly orally and in writing.

Unit Content

  1. Developing and communicating project concepts and ideas using oral, written or visual formats.
  2. Roles, responsibilities and models for collaboration in making theatre and performance.
  3. The stages of the creative process from conception through to the development of a performance pitch.
  4. Collaboration and communication skills to maximise creativity for individuals and teams.

Students will attend on campus classes as well as engage in learning activities through ECUs LMS
