Description

This unit extends work undertaken in the prerequisite unit, Performance Making Project 1, and is the culmination of three years of study in the Performance Making major. Students are required to work alone or in small groups to develop, refine, rehearse and perform a new work implementing, writing, scenographic, dramaturgical, directorial and/or devising processes. The unit will result in a performance season of original, devised work.

Prerequisite Rule

Students must have passed PMA3012.

Co-Requisite Rule

Students must be enrolled in course Y97.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Generate material for performance using appropriate and effective devising techniques such as improvisation, creative writing and choreographic or compositional processes.
  2. Design, plan and conduct the later stages of an effective creative process using feedback from peers and mentors to further develop a performance project.
  3. Display technical skills in performance and performance-making skills as appropriate to their role in the team at a pre-professional level.

Unit Content

  1. Roles, responsibilities and models for collaboration in making theatre and performance.
  2. The middle and later stages of the creative process and how to develop, refine, rehearse and present performance material for public performance to industry standard.
  3. Project management, timelines, scheduling, budgeting, collaboration and managing people.
  4. Working creatively with production and design elements for a high-quality final performance product.
  5. Develop media and marketing collateral.

Students will attend on campus classes as well as engage in learning activities through ECUs LMS
