Description

This unit provides the theory and experience necessary to develop an understanding of group processes and develop effective group skills. A further emphasis is the effective management of groups to maximise productivity and satisfaction; and maintain the qualities of an effective group.

Prerequisite Rule

Students must pass 1 units from PSY1101

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Analyse the functions and characteristics of group dynamics and group process.
  2. Apply effective communication methods in group settings.
  3. Apply the functional roles of group leadership and membership.
  4. Demonstrate skills in observation/evaluation of groups and presentation and feedback.
  5. Evaluate effective oral communication in presentations and the ability to provide effective feedback to others.
  6. Plan, present and evaluate a group activity, based on course theoretical and experiential learning.
