Description

The unit enables students to learn practical clinical skills with clients under supervision of a registered clinical psychologist. Students must have completed or be concurrently enrolled in PSY5197: Psychological Assessment (or an equivalent unit) and PSY5198: Clinical Psychology 1 (or an equivalent unit) to enrol in this unit.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate the ability to practice in a professional and ethically responsible fashion.
  2. Perform basic procedures in psychological intervention.
  3. Perform evaluation methods.
  4. Perform psychological assessment and problem formulation.
  5. Write psychological reports.

Unit Content

  1. Assessment.
  2. Communication and organisational.
  3. Intervention and therapy.
  4. Interviewing.
  5. Practical training will focus on areas including:
  6. Professional practice.

Additional Learning Experience Information

Formats include direct observation of performance, videotaping of student and client interactions, direct feedback from supervisors, case presentations, and review of report and other documents.
