Description

This unit is designed to facilitate the completion of the postgraduate research, and assist students with issues in the writing of a postgraduate project or thesis. Students will learn how to write a thesis in their chosen research area, integrate their research within an appropriate theoretical and/or methodological framework, and be able to communicate their research to others.

Prerequisite Rule

Students must pass 1 unit from PSY6230, PSY6240, PSY6241

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Communicate effectively on issues concerned with their own research program, and provide constructive criticism on the research programs of their peers.
  2. Complete a research project or thesis.
  3. Integrate the research within an appropriate theoretical framework.
  4. Write a cogent review of the relevant literature in the chosen research area.

Unit Content

  1. Issues in conducting research: converting the proposal into actuality; time management and contingency planning; refining the analysis plan.
  2. Writing the research project or thesis: form and content; writing style; common problems.

Learning Experience

Students will attend on campus classes as well as engage in learning activities through ECU Blackboard.
