Description

This unit is available to individuals or groups of students wishing to undertake a specific research topic or practical project. Only students who have demonstrated competency in their chosen field and who can work independently will be admitted to this unit. Admission is subject to the availability of a supervisor and the project undertaken must receive approval before it is commenced.

Students must pass 240 credit points

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

1. Add to existing knowledge of a specific topic or area of interest through independent research and/or practice.
2. Demonstrate an ability to work independently or collaboratively in a chosen field.
3. Formulate research questions or project design.

Unit Content

1. Preparing work-in-progress notes for regular meetings with the unit supervisor.
2. Work independently and undertake required research specific to the needs of the independent study.
3. Working to a professional standard to complete a substantive body of work.
