This is a project based unit where students are able to integrate the knowledge and employability skills developed over the duration of the course and apply it with minimal direction to an authentic business situation in their local community. Working in inter-disciplinary teams and with the guidance of their lecturer, students will choose a project in their discipline-based industry or sector in order to increase the breadth of their experience and test their abilities in a new context. Aside from drawing on their own discipline knowledge, students are required to apply the principles of corporate social responsibility, sustainability and ethics to improve aspects of their chosen business. The unit culminates in the presentation of a professional practice portfolio that showcases each students knowledge, skills and capabilities. The task is set so that students have an opportunity to refine and present an authentic and evidenced professional identity to prospective employers to enhance their career prospects upon graduation.
Students must have completed a minimum of 240 credit points and SBL1600 Business Identity and Protocols.
Students must be enrolled into the Bachelor of Commerce (or any associated double degree); or Bachelor of Commerce Professional; or Y53 Bachelor of Sport, Recreation and Event Management; or Y29 Bachelor of International Hotel and Resort Management; K93 Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management; or G95 Bachelor of Business (or an associated double degree - K34, Y04, Y88, Y70).

Students will engage in learning experiences through ECU Blackboard as well as additional ECU learning technologies.
This unit is conducted in both on-campus and online modes with a student-centred approach. Weekly three hour seminars will be scheduled throughout the semester comprising a blend of learning experiences such as brief interactive lectures, workshops and small group activities. There will also be a number of non-teaching weeks embedded for students to complete project work activities such as client consultations, field trips and project-specific workshops. Project work will be open-ended with minimal direction in order to develop students' initiative and entrepreneurial abilities. Students will be directed to complete additional readings and activities outside of class contact time. Online students participate in the unit via Blackboard and will require regular online access. Support materials and real time experiences, specifically for the online mode, will be provided to assist students with their progress. Students are required to complete set readings and participate in interactive online activities to discuss, develop and apply the concepts covered in the unit content. Online students will be required to collaborate in the virtual environment to complete their project. As with on-campus students, the project will be open-ended in order to develop initiative and entrepreneurship. Assessment methods for on-campus and online modes provide students with the opportunity to develop and demonstrate their achievement of the unit learning outcomes.
