Description
This unit builds on the skills acquired in SBL4520 Professional Practice, a prerequisite to this unit. It will require students to engage in career self-management through considering their strengths and weaknesses and development pathways for professional success. Students will reflect on networking capabilities and the professional contacts they have established and how these may enhance their career goals. They will produce a professional practice portfolio which articulates and promotes their personal brand.
Prerequisite Rule
Students must have completed SBL4510 and SBL4520
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this unit students should be able to:
- Demonstrate career self-management through identifying personal strengths and weaknesses and development opportunities to succeed in chosen profession.
- Evaluate professional networking capabilities and established networks for achieving career goals.
- Produce a professional portfolio to develop and promote a cohesive personal brand.

- Professional practice portfolio for personal brand purposes
Learning Experience
Students will attend on campus classes as well as engage in learning activities through ECU Blackboard.

Additional Learning Experience Information
Student learning will be directed by the Unit Coordinator/Lecturer and there will be ongoing liaison between the Unit Coordinator/Lecturer and student to ensure effective performance during the professional practice period. Students will need to maintain regular email contact and attend meetings with the Unit Coordinator/Lecturer as required. Students will be required to participate in on-campus sessions where they will engage with their Unit Coordinator/Lecturer and other participants on the Professional Practice program They may also be required to engage in independent and peer-based online tasks and activities.
