Description

This unit is designed to provide in-depth and practical experience to the investigation of an important natural resources management issue. Students will be expected to identify a relevant and significant local or national issue and conduct an appropriate literature survey as a basis for further research. Students will lprepare a research proposal and a research dissertation for their project. Guidance will be provided by the unit tutor and a research supervisor.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Analyse the collected data and interpret the results in relation to the specific research question.
  2. Conduct an independent research project, under supervision, using appropriate research methods relevant to the field of environmental management.
  3. Formulate a research proposal addressing a specific research question in the field of environmental management.
  4. Identify and retrieve relevant information from the literature to support the project.
  5. Prepare the research findings in a dissertation.
  6. Recognise how complex environmental management problems may be resolved, taking into account the role of a range of disciplines.

  1. Critical analysis and evaluation of data.
  2. Formulation of specific research questions and a research proposal.
  3. Identifying and accessing specific topics in environmental management.
  4. Preparation and submission of a research dissertation.
