Description

This unit involves an investigation of the identified research problem; data collection and data analysis by applying appropriate methods and techniques; written and verbal reporting on the progress of research - its achievements, as well as any problems encountered.

Prerequisite Rule

Students must have passed SCI6107

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Undertake research methodologies appropriate for proposed research project and to work effectively with their appointed supervisor(s).
  2. Design and undertake research.
  3. Communicate research findings to discipline experts.
  4. Contribute advanced knowledge to the field of science through a thesis which is consistent with supervisors expectations and university research policy guidelines.

Unit Content

  1. The design of scientific research methodology.
  2. Presentation of a seminar on the area of study.
  3. Preparation and submission of a Master thesis.

Learning Experience

Students will attend on campus classes as well as engage in learning activities through ECUs LMS
