Description

This unit involves further observations of clinical speech pathology practice emphasising the treatment of an individual with communication or swallowing disorders. Within a clinical context the student will use an evidence based approach to plan the appropriate treatment strategy. The treatment will be reported in a format suitable for publication in a relevant speech pathology journal.

Prerequisite Rule

Students must pass 1 units from SPE4100

Co-Requisite Rule

Must be enrolled in course version K71, Y02

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Interpret case study social and medical history and assessment data in order to identify a relevant approach to treatment.
  2. Plan an appropriate data analysis for the evaluation of the overall treatment outcomes for the single case study.
  3. Plan the appropriate treatment, selected using an evidence-based approach, for an individual with a communication, or swallowing disorder.
  4. Produce a report outlining the evidence based process and resulting treatment protocol in a format suitable for publication in a relevant speech pathology journal.
