This unit takes the contemporary perspective of filmosophy’ as the means in which to theoretically interpret and critically evaluate cult cinema, utopian animations, visionary documentaries and radical music videos. It will provide creative inspiration for practitioners and scholars alike, using film to address some of the ongoing philosophical questions of life. The final assignment challenges students to synthesise filmosophy into action’ by way of a creative production.
Students must pass SPO1050 before enrolling in this unit.

This unit will be delivered using technology enhanced learning, a learner-centered approach. Central to technology-enhanced learning is completing self-directed online activities outside of class contact time. Students are required to complete set readings and viewings before class. These preparatory activities introduce students to initial, relatable conceptions of the topics, which are reinforced through lectures and tutorials.

Using or having access to unauthorised materials in an exam or test.
Serious outcomes may be imposed if a student is found to have committed one of these breaches, up to and including expulsion from the University for repeated or serious acts.
