Description

The emphasis in this unit is on a high level of rigour, complexity and sophistication of product. Students are expected to produce work to competitive film and video festival exhibition level. Production and production management should be to the industry standard. Students will work on projects of their own choice and may choose to specialise in one area of production such as camerawork, directing, editing, sound, etc.

Prerequisite Rule

Students must have passed SPO2300.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Identify key institutions in the Australian screen industry.
  2. Apply industry standard scheduling and budgeting tools such as the A-Z Screen Australia budget to balance the creative and material needs in screen production.
  3. Apply media business protocols and practices in working with clients.
  4. Apply industry standards in packaging and promoting content for different platforms.
  5. Research and apply advanced visual literacies appropriate to the self-devised project.

Unit Content

  1. Project budgeting.
  2. Staff-mentored project.
  3. Industry engagement.
  4. Formatting multi-platform distribution.

Additional Learning Experience Information

This unit will be delivered using technology enhanced learning, a learner-centered approach. Central to technology-enhanced learning is completing self-directed online activities outside of class contact time. Students are required to complete set readings and viewings before class. These preparatory activities introduce students to initial, relatable conceptions of the topics, which are reinforced through lectures and tutorials.
