Description

This unit focuses on advanced methods in performance analysis. Complex methods of notational analysis will be studied and students will gain knowledge in how to develop multiple analysis systems for football. This will cover football training and competition as well as analysing opposition teams. Students will undertake these advanced techniques in the use of video live capture and coding.

Non Standard Timetable Requirements

Students will be required to attend a study skills workshop two days before the start of the semester or on weekends - students will get extra accreditation for these workshops.

Prerequisite Rule

Students must have completed SPS1902

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Apply different methods of notational analysis to report objective data to coaching staff and players.
  2. Use advanced skills and techniques to transfer notational and motion analysis data into football coaching environments.
  3. Collaboratively construct data networks to analyse live and post-patch data using digital technologies.
  4. Create advanced scripting commands for the analysis of football game data to produce individual, group and team performance reports.

Unit Content

  1. Complex code window functions including action buttons, HTML export, labels mode and button.
  2. Understanding advanced commands in performance analysis in football.
  3. Modern digital match analysis systems in football.
  4. Data management and presentation of notational and motion analysis.
  5. Transferring notational and motion analysis data into the coaching and training environment.
  6. The use of the timeline, matrix and movie organiser for pre, during and post competition analysis.
  7. Establish networking workflow systems to setup of shared folders, IP addresses and timeline sharing.
  8. Practical used of video acquisition to create custom capture systems.

Students please note: The marks and grades received by students on assessments may be subject to further moderation. All marks and grades are to be considered provisional until endorsed by the relevant Board of Examiners.

Due to the professional competency skill development associated with this Unit, student attendance/participation within listed in-class activities and/or online activities including discussion boards is compulsory. Students failing to meet participation standards as outlined in the unit plan may be awarded an I Grade (Fail - incomplete). Students who are unable to meet this requirement for medical or other reasons must seek the approval of the unit coordinator.
