Description

In this unit (and the related units SPS5130 and SPS5131), students implement an exercise and sports science research project based on the approved proposal, collect and analyse data, prepare a thesis, and submit it for examination, under the supervision of their academic supervisor/s.

Prerequisite Rule

Students must have passed SPS5128

Equivalent Rule

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Collect, analyse and synthesise research data.
  2. Discuss the findings.
  3. Implement an exercise and sports science research project in an ethical manner.
  4. Interpret the data and present in a proper format (e.g. figure, table).
  5. Prepare a research-based Honours thesis.

Unit Content

  1. Implementation of the Honours project proposal.
  2. Data collection and analyses.
  3. Interpretation of the data.
  4. Constructing figures and tables.
  5. Research limitations, conclusions, discussion and recommendations.
  6. Writing up a thesis.

Additional Learning Experience Information

In these units, the students will implement and prepare for submission, the project proposed in SPS5128: Preparation of Thesis Proposal. The implementation will be closely supervised by the appointed Project Supervisor. The preparation of the submission will be done with the support of the Project Supervisor, and with instruction from the Unit Coordinator. It is expected that at least one draft submission will be made.
