Description

This unit provides students with both the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required for testing human performance in exercise and sports science. Students will learn how and why to use a variety of testing equipment. Working in interdisciplinary teams they will design a study, test human performance using various techniques and present their findings. Students will learn the fundamentals of programing while learning how to interpret and visualise human performance testing results.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Review contemporary research in the field of exercise and sports science in relation to human performance testing.
  2. Discuss the theoretical basis of various human performance testing techniques.
  3. Demonstrate various human performance testing techniques.
  4. Interpret human performance testing results.
  5. Present human performance testing results in a clear and concise manner.

Unit Content

  1. Performance testing techniques in exercise and sports science.
  2. Factors to be considered when assessing human performance.
  3. Design for testing of exercise and sports science.
  4. Data visualisation and interpretation.
  5. Presentation of test results.

Additional Learning Experience Information

Lectures, tutorials online activities and laboratories. Off Campus students: This unit has a mandatory on-campus component. Students will be required to attend campus for one week.
