Description

In this unit students apply critical thinking and analytical skills to complete the second stage of an exercise and sports science-related research project by implementing the research proposal developed in SPS6120. Students work in collaboration with an academic supervisor to collect and analyse research data,write up a thesis and submit the thesis for examination.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Analyse research data using appropriate quantitative and/or qualitative methods.
  2. Collect reliable and valid research data in a systematic and ethical manner.
  3. Implement a research proposal based on sound conceptual and/or theoretical frameworks.
  4. Present conclusions, recommendations and limitations of the research findings.
  5. Present, interpret and discuss research findings in relation to the research question and relevant scientific literature.
  6. Produce a thesis containing a literature review, research question/hypothesis, methodology, results and discussion of the research project.
  7. Submit a thesis for examination and respond to feedback provided by examiners.

The student and supervisor/s will agree on progress review and submission dates that are in accordance with ECU Higher Degree Research Candidature Management policy.
