Description

In this unit students will develop critical and analytical skills by undertaking research in an area of relevance to the field of Social Work. Students will learn how to integrate their research within an appropriate theoretical and/or methodological framework, and communicate their research to specialist and non-specialist audiences. Research projects are supervised by staff who possess research interests and experience in the relevant area.

Prerequisite Rule

Students must pass 1 unit from SWK6112

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Collect and analyse research data.
  2. Communicate research results for specialist and non-specialist audiences.
  3. Construct appropriate project management timelines for the research.
  4. Evaluate and discuss research findings in relation to the research question and appropriate literature.
  5. Prepare a research report detailing the project and its findings.

  2. Ethics in research.
  3. Data collection.
  4. Data analysis.
  5. Project management of research.

Additional Learning Experience Information

Students will work with a nominated supervisor. The student and supervisor will agree on progress review dates.
