Description

University students require a broad range of academic study and Information Communication Technology (ICT) skills. In this unit, students are comprehensively trained in a range of study related ICT systems and applications and are introduced to important learning skills used by successful tertiary students. This unit promotes both independent and collaborative learning techniques via individual and group learning experiences designed to prepare students for successful undergraduate level study.

Non Standard Timetable Requirements

This intensive unit is taught over three days in an accelerated delivery mode.

Co-Requisite Rule

Must be enrolled in Uni Prep Accelerate course

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Use appropriate learning strategies to organise and manage learning in an academic environment.
  2. Use professional communication and teamwork skills for effective participation in small interactive group learning activities.
  3. Deliver an effective oral presentation demonstrating effective use of technology and reflective practice.

  1. Time management strategies.
  2. University ICT skills and Learning Management Systems.
  3. Strategies for learning.
  4. Employability and career planning.
  5. Reflective writing.
  6. Strategies for oral presentations.

Students will attend on campus classes as well as engage in learning activities through ECUs LMS

GS1 GRADING SCHEMA 1 Used for standard coursework units

Students please note: The marks and grades received by students on assessments may be subject to further moderation. All marks and grades are to be considered provisional until endorsed by the relevant School Progression Panel.

Due to the professional competency skill development associated with this Unit, student attendance/participation within listed in-class activities and/or online activities including discussion boards is compulsory. Students failing to meet participation standards as outlined in the unit plan may be awarded an I Grade (Fail - incomplete). Students who are unable to meet this requirement for medical or other reasons must seek the approval of the unit coordinator.
