This introductory unit aims to generate understanding of how traditional forms of printmaking, utilising intaglio and relief, are powerful methods for addressing global and personal concerns. In order to create their own images, students will, through hands-on workshops, demonstrations and contextual lectures, critically consider the working methods and concepts of contemporary and historic artists. Students will experimentally work through set projects and develop their own project by employing a range of processes, including etching; drypoint; woodcut; linocut; letterpress as well as other approaches to the printed image
