Description

In this unit students will develop studio-based art works and develop skills in professional practice. Students will be expected to research professional opportunities and develop strategies to produce and promote their works through exhibition, public art, and digital environments locally and/or internationally.

Prerequisite Rule

Students must pass 1 units from VIS1305

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

  1. Critically discuss their practice within a professional/public arts context.
  2. Describe strategies to produce and promote their works.
  3. Identify professional and exhibition opportunities relevant to their practice.
  4. Produce a professional portfolio.
  5. Produce artworks that demonstrate a relationship to the environment in which they operate.

Unit Content

  1. Analysing creative and professional praxis.
  2. Developing a personal praxis.
  3. Investigating the mechanisms and policies of art organisations.
  4. Specialist and interdisciplinary studio based arts practice.
  5. Technical, aesthetic and professional judgements.
  6. The professional and public context of contemporary arts research and practice.
