This post-ATAR level major enables students to develop advanced reading, writing, listening, speaking and IT skills in Japanese, building on ATAR level Japanese. The focus of the major is on authentic practical skills based around topical themes.

All students are required to have WACE 3A/3B, or equivalent level language skills in Japanese. Native speakers of Japanese who have completed their compulsory education in Japan and/or in a Japanese educational institution overseas (i.e. six years at primary and three years at junior high school) are not eligible to enrol in this major.
