Photomedia Major

This unique major combines production and critical analysis of still images. It encourages students to become critically aware of visual languages, and at the same time explore creative approaches to photography.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Adapt specialised knowledge and skills to create and implement a variety of photomedia content in projects to encompass diverse contexts, styles, and genres.
  2. Demonstrate initiative and judgment in planning, problem solving, and decision making processes to manage the workflow of digital photomedia projects in accordance with industry demands.
  3. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding in depth of the specialised equipment and materials in relation to the principles of photomedia production.
  4. Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for own learning through reflective analysis in relation to addressing the requirements of professional photomedia practice.
  5. Exercise critical thinking and judgement to identify and solve problems when utilising photographic equipment and materials in order to creatively present projects.
  6. Integrate technical, theoretical, and interpretive perspectives to the production and consumption of photomedia in a range of genres.
  7. Review, analyse, and synthesise knowledge to identify relevant content in order to develop, refine, and present photomedia projects.
  8. Successfully communicate knowledge and ideas through the production of professional photomedia content using practical and conceptual skills.
